Dialysis: Body Balance
When your kidneys fail (End Stage Kidney Disease or ESRD), dialysis is using a machine (Hemodialysis) or other techniques (Peritoneal Dialysis) to replace your kidney’s function. Dialysis keeps your body in balance by: removing waste products and salt and extra water to prevent them from building up in the body; keeping a safe level of certain chemicals in your blood, such as potassium, sodium and bicarbonate and helping to control blood pressure.
The staff of Nephrological Associates is committed to providing comprehensive dialysis care by working closely with the newest and most technologically advanced “in-center” Hemodialysis units in the area. We oversee traditional “in-center” Hemodialysis as well as Peritoneal Dialysis (done at home) and Home Hemodialysis as well.
